Action has been initiated to seize the property of Samajwadi Party MLA Zahid Baig. The UP police are counting the items inside the MLA’s residence. A case has been registered against Zahid Baig and his wife for employing a minor as labor and abetting a minor to commit suicide. Zahid Baig and his son have been arrested by the police and both are in prison, but his wife has absconded. For this reason the police are taking seizure measures.
In the seizure process, movable property found inside the home will be confiscated and subsequently auctioned. Due to the absence of MLA’s wife Seema Baig, seizure measures are being taken at the MLA’s residence in Bhadohi Kotwali on the orders of the court.
The girl committed suicide on September 9.
On September 9, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide in a third-floor room of the MLA’s residence. The next day, another girl was released from the MLA’s house. Two FIRs have been registered against the MLA, his wife and son, accused of forcing a minor to give birth and abetting the suicide of another. The local anti-human trafficking unit had launched an investigation after the suicide of the minor and the rescue of a 17-year-old girl who worked at the MLA’s residence.
Zahid Baig surrendered on September 19.
The MLA’s son was arrested on Wednesday (September 18), following which Zahid Baig surrendered on Thursday (September 19). Meanwhile, a third case was registered on Friday (September 20) against Zahid Baig, accused of attacking policemen during the riot at the district court the previous day. According to the police, the MLA and his supporters obstructed police work and physically attacked several officers. A case was registered against Zahid Baig and his unknown followers at Gyanpur police station. Currently, SP MLA Jahig Beg is lodged in Naini jail and his son in Varanasi jail, while the search for his wife Seema continues.
