It aims to provide clean toilet and urinal facilities to the devotees who come during Mahakumbh, so that they return with a memorable experience. For this, the fair administration has issued guidelines. In this sense, the focus will be on the cleanliness of the bathrooms. In addition, it will also be ensured that there is no shortage of manpower. All vendors will have to ensure that one sweeper is deployed for every 10 toilets as per prescribed norms, while one supervisor will be appointed for every 10 sweepers. Likewise, a sweeper will be deployed in 20 urinals and a supervisor in 20 sweepers.
Public cleanliness will be guaranteed.
According to Special Executive Director Mahakumbh Mela Akanksha Rana, the fair administration has laid down some norms regarding deployment of manpower for better maintenance of public toilets and sanitary facilities in the fair area, which the vendors will have to ensure in all circumstances. The aim of these new norms is to improve public cleanliness and provide better facilities to devotees and tourists. According to this, it will be mandatory to designate 1 sweeper for 10 toilets, 1 supervisor for 10 sweepers, 1 sweeper for 20 urinals and one supervisor for 20 sweepers. Additionally, cleaners will be ensured to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and shoes, while cleaning. In this way, in addition to cleaning, the safety of the sweepers will also be guaranteed.
Odor control technology will be used.
In accordance with the prescribed standards, toilets, sinks, floors and tiles will be kept free of stains and dirt. Availability of toilet paper, soap dispensers, hand sanitizers and feminine hygiene products will be ensured. Additionally, the flushing system, faucets and showers must function properly and without leaks. Additionally, using odor control technology, a system will be implemented to eliminate toilet odor in 10 to 15 minutes and decompose waste within 24 hours. This will help eliminate odor or dirt despite repeated use and people will be able to use it without hesitation. This system will be fully implemented even during large bathing parties, so no problems of any kind will arise despite the large crowd.
The bathrooms will be accessible for the disabled.
An adequate lighting system will be mandatory in the toilets. Likewise, potholes, cracks or any damage to concrete joints, electrical accessories and signage will be promptly corrected. The availability of cups and buckets in the bathrooms will also be guaranteed. It will be ensured that toilet facilities are available in easily accessible locations. At least 1 in 10 toilets will be accessible to people with disabilities. Priority will be given to the deployment of an adequate number of vacuum machines and the proper disposal of waste. Measures will be taken to ensure that all jet spray machines in restrooms are properly installed and operating.
