School closed news: The Supreme Court ordered closure of schools till 12th in Delhi-NCR. Due to air pollution in Delhi, GRAP-4 rules have also been implemented. Except for schools 10 and 12, all other schools in Delhi were already closed.
During today’s air pollution hearing, SC strongly rebuked the Delhi government. SC asked: Why was there a delay in implementation of GRAP rules? Why wasn’t GRAP-3 deployed as soon as the AQI crossed 300?
The UP government has already implemented Phase 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), one of the strictest steps to curb dangerous levels of pollution. This phase includes school closures, restrictions on industrial activities and other measures in NCR.
The Supreme Court also made it clear that state governments should take an immediate decision on closure of all classes up to class 12 and there should be no negligence in the action. as well as, CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management) It has been ordered to consider imposing strict measures under Phases 3 and 4 of the GRAP.
The next hearing on the matter will be held on Friday, where the progress of the situation and the measures adopted will be evaluated.
