Last week, a tragic incident took place on the set of the popular TV serial ‘Anupama’, following which the show has been in the news. On Thursday, November 14, 2024, a crew member who was taking photographs died from an electric shock. Responding to this matter, the All India Cinema Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded justice for the person who lost his life on the sets. Founder and Chairman Suresh Shamlal Gupta has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde requesting him to pay attention to the incident.
Anupama makers’ woes mount
AICWA, which works for the safety of artists and workers in the Indian film industry, termed the death of a 32-year-old crew member on the set of ‘Anupama’ as murder. He said that due to the negligence of the producers, production house and channel, the institutional murder of the crew member occurred. He has written a letter to CM Eknath Shinde seeking justice. AICWA official X has shared a copy of the letter.

Justice appeal by CM Eknath Shinde
The letter states that this incident occurred on November 14 around 9:30 pm. An electric shock occurred due to faulty and poorly maintained equipment on the TV. Despite the tragic incident, the shooting continued until midnight and resumed at the usual time the next day. An FIR has been registered against the electrical contractor for negligence. Now, AICWA has appealed to the CM to register an FIR under section 302 of the IPC against all responsible parties. They want the authorities to sanction the producer, production house, channel and officials for this accident. As compensation, the production team should pay Rs 1 million to the family of the deceased employee. Also, strict safety protocols must be implemented on the sets and the shooting of Rupali Ganguly’s series must be stopped until justice is served.
