The Punjab provincial government has declared smog a medical emergency.

Lahore and Multan imposed blockade

According to ARY News, the lockdown will be in full force in Lahore and Multan from next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the smog situation will be monitored on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If air quality deteriorates, more lockdowns may be imposed. In view of the situation, Pakistan’s Information and Environment Protection Minister Maryam Aurangzeb announced a complete ban on construction activities in Lahore and Multan for a week starting November 16.

At the same time, about 65 thousand people were hospitalized. The number of patients in the hospital is continuously increasing, so the leaves of the paramedical staff have been canceled and the OPD hours have been extended up to 8 pm.

In view of the haze, the Punjab government has taken several measures, including closure of schools and colleges. Vehicles that emit excessive smoke and visit picnic and entertainment venues have been banned. Along with this, instructions have been given to close hotels and restaurants after 8:00 p.m. At the same time, all non-governmental offices have been asked to work at only 50 percent capacity.
