◆ Also the inspection of the women’s barracks of the district prison
Ayodhya. A public hearing was held at the Circuit House Ayodhya in the presence of Ritu Shahi, member of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission. During the public hearing, about 11 cases were received, of which the concerned authorities were directed to resolve 10 cases. Because information about a case was incomplete, instructions were given to the police officer concerned to resolve the case. During the public hearing, 05 cases of assault, 03 cases related to police department, 02 related to possession and 0 cases related to dowry harassment were received.
The member of the State Women’s Commission said that the main objective of organizing the public hearing is to help victimized women and protect them from justice and harassment. He said that to hear and resolve cases related to harassment of women, members of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission organize public hearings in each district, where women themselves can lodge and express their complaints.
After the hearing he inspected the women’s barracks of the regional prison, met with the prisoners and spoke with them.
During the public hearing, District Probation Officer Ashwini Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar, District Information Officer Santosh Kumar Dwivedi, District Minority Officer and Assistant Basic Education Officer along with the complainant and his family.
