Vatican City, Monday, November 18, 2024 (REI): In special preparation for the Jubilee Year, the Catholic Church has launched a series of initiatives at the diocesan and local level to pray for all people in this Year of Prayer. In light of this, the Church of Italy has maintained November 18 as a day of prayer for victims and survivors of abuse. Joining this initiative, Pope Francis took to the social media platform X to encourage all the faithful to pray for victims and survivors of abuse.

First message: “I join the Church in Italy in proposing today a day of prayer for victims and survivors of abuse. Every bad behavior is a betrayal of trust, it is a betrayal of life! Prayer is necessary to “recover faith.”

Second message: “Prayer opens our hearts to the Lord and the Holy Spirit changes our lives when he enters us. That is why we must pray that there is room for the Spirit in our hearts.” #yearofprayer
