Generally, poor results in Assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections are considered a valid reason for the removal of any Chief Minister. Viewed on this basis, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s seats in Uttar Pradesh would have been reduced to 255 in 2022, while in 2019, the party had achieved a three-quarters majority by winning 312 seats. The same thing happened in the Lok Sabha elections too. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in which the party had contested 78 seats, of which it had won 62 seats, in 2024 it was reduced to 33. But when Yogi Adityanath has faced both the storms, then there are doubts that defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections and by-elections in nine constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will also hurt him. On the contrary, this time RSS has taken the lead in Maharashtra. Every Sangh worker is working for BJP’s victory in Maharashtra.
In an effort to correct irregularities in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has increased coordination with the Sangh. In which deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis held at least half a dozen meetings with Sangh leaders and prepared a roadmap for the assembly elections. The Sangh deployed its cadres in those seats where the party was in a weak position. Indian Express writes that an RSS leader said there is a clear difference in the way BJP and RSS function. The BJP seems to be divided over Yogi Adityanath’s slogan ‘Bantenge to Katenge’. Knowing this, Prime Minister Modi has given a simple version of this slogan: ‘Ek hain toh safe hain’. Other Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sanghs will also fall apart if they are divided but have shown a positive attitude. Even after this, such voices are raised continuously, as if it seems that Yogi Adityanath has done something wrong by giving this motto. There is a controversy regarding this slogan in the ruling Mahayuti alliance contesting elections in Maharashtra. The leader of the NCP, Ajit Pawar, had already distanced himself from this slogan. Later, two BJP leaders from Maharashtra also raised questions over this slogan. Pankaja Munde and Ashok Chavan also believed that the slogan “Bantege to Katenge” may be suitable for UP but not for Maharashtra.
But the way state deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis is building on this slogan, it seems that the BJP’s strategy may be to have some people oppose it and others remain supportive. But overall, if Yogi Adityanath’s slogan is divided, it will be at the center of the Maharashtra elections. It is obvious that if Mahayuti is successful in the elections, if it is divided then the slogan will be removed and the credit will go to the person who gave it. It is only natural that after this the demand for Yogi Adityanath will increase further in the assembly elections that will be held in other states as well.
Can Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak also be held responsible?
In fact, the mood is not only heating up in Maharashtra over the slogan given by CM Yogi, Bantoge to Katoge. There is confusion about this in UP BJP too. Regarding this slogan, at first Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya tried to escape but then seemed to give up. It was earlier said that this slogan could have been said in some other context and is not the party’s slogan. Keshav says the supreme leader is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and says if there is one, then he is safe. Now the statement of the state’s second MP Brajesh Pathak has also been made public. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, who arrived in Varanasi, cautiously said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is working to take Sanatan culture forward by bringing everyone together. Evidently, the opposition to the UP CM from his deputy CM has not yet subsided. The result of the mutual fight between these leaders in Uttar Pradesh is that the administration in Uttar Pradesh is not functioning properly. From the DGP to all medical colleges and other institutions in Uttar Pradesh, they function on interim appointments. Everything is in a wait and see situation. There is a possibility that this wait will end after the Maharashtra elections.
