Indian students have become the largest number of foreign students studying in the United States. For the first time since 2009, India has surpassed China in terms of the number of foreign students studying in the United States.
According to the latest Open Doors 2024 report, around 3.3 lakh Indian students are studying in the US in 2023-2024, accounting for 29.4 per cent of the 11 lakh foreign students studying in the US. In the last academic year, Indian students constituted 25.4 per cent of the number of international students. Thus, for the first time in 15 years, India tops this list.
The number of Chinese students studying in the United States in 2023-2024 is 2.77 lakh. This time it has decreased to 24.6 percent compared to 27.4 percent in the last academic year.
China is in second place, while South Korea is in third place.
After India, China is second on this list. 2.77 lakh Chinese students study in the United States. 43,149 students from South Korea, 28,998 students from Canada and 23,157 students from Taiwan study.
We tell you that in the statement issued in this regard, the US Embassy in India stated that, for the first time since 2008-2009, India is in the lead in sending students to the United States. This is the highest ever recorded number of Indian children studying in the United States. In the United States, the academic session usually begins in September and lasts until May.
