Naxalite leader Vikram Gowda dies in clash

A fierce encounter took place between the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) and Naxalites on Monday night at Kabbinale village located in Karkala taluk of Udupi district of Karnataka. The famous Naxalite leader Vikram Gowda was killed in this encounter. The encounter took place during an anti-Naxal search operation in Seetambelu area, when firing took place between the Naxals and the ANF team. The ANF team intensified this operation after receiving information about suspicious activities of a Naxal unit.

Invaded in the village of Yedagunda

According to information, a Naxal unit had visited a remote house under the jurisdiction of Jayapura police station in Chikmagalur district. After this, they also infiltrated Yedagunda village in Koppa taluk where the Naxalites discussed issues related to forest encroachment and Kasturirangan report. Taking into account these reports, the anti-Naxal operation in the area was further intensified.

How did the meeting start?

On Monday night, a group of five Naxalites entered Kabbinale village to buy food. As soon as they entered the town, they had a meeting with the ANF team. The Naxalite leader, Vikram Gowda, was killed during the gunfight, while the rest of the Naxalites managed to escape.

Who was Vikram Gowda?

Vikram Gowda’s name stood out among the Naxal leaders active in Karnataka. He was involved in several violent incidents in the area. Following the success of the ANF and police action, Naxal activities in the area are being closely monitored and search operations are being carried out. After this encounter, the police have further strengthened security measures in the area, so the possibility of other Naxalite groups taking action can be ruled out.
