Annu Kapoor’s statement on ‘Chak De India’ after 17 years
Actor Annu Kapoor, known for his powerful work in evergreen films like ‘Mandi’, ‘Utsav’ and ‘Mr India’, often makes headlines for his statements. Annu was in the news recently for her statements about Priyanka Chopra and sometimes Ramayam. Now once again Annu Kapoor has given some statements that have given rise to a new debate on social media.
Shahrukh Khan’s film ‘Chak De India’, released in 2007, is considered a cult classic film of Hindi cinema. Be it Shahrukh’s performance in the film or the work of the supporting cast, everything is highly praised. 17 years have passed since the film was released but its dialogues, songs and scenes are still remembered. Now Annu Kapoor has made a scathing comment about this film.
What did Annu Kapoor say?
Pointing towards the film, Annu Kapoor said that Shahrukh Khan’s character Kabir Khan was based on coach Mir Ranjan Negi. He also claimed that the filmmakers deliberately made Shahrukh’s character a Muslim. He said, “Chak De India’s main character is based on a famous coach, Negi Saab, but in India they want to show a Muslim in a good role and make fun of a pandit.”
The debate broke out on social networks
Not only this, Annu Kapoor further said, “This is an old thing, where they use the idea of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb i.e. Hindu-Muslim unity to put a label on it.” Now this comment by Annu Kapoor has started a new debate on social media. While many users supported Annu, many people also criticized Annu Kapoor for making such comments about the film.
