Rahul Gandhi Cooking Video: Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and veteran Congressman Rahul Gandhi visited a Dalit house in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Here he also tried his hand at family cooking. Ground garlic and also prepared toor dal with green leaves. Then I had dinner with the family. Rahul Gandhi also shared his video on social media. Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media: Even today, very few people know about Dalit cuisine. Curious to know what they eat, how they cook it and its social and political importance, I spent an afternoon with Ajay Tukaram Sanade ji and Anjana Tukaram Sanade ji.

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi reached Dalit farmer Ajay Tukaram Sanade’s house in Unchaon village in Kolhapur. Here he not only enjoyed delicious and “spicy” food with the family, but also helped in its preparation. The leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha was also present along with Shahu Patole, author of the book ‘The Dalit Cuisine of Marathwada’. “No one knows what we (Dalits) eat,” Patole said.

Rahul Gandhi shared the video.

Rahul Gandhi Gandhi said, “You said something interesting: No one knows what you eat or how you cook. That is why I have come here today.” Rahul Gandhi told him that “I don’t eat a lot of spices or chillies.” While sharing the video on social media, Rahul wrote, “He respectfully invited me to his house in Kolhapur, Maharashtra and gave me a chance to help him in the kitchen. “Together we made ‘Harbhyachi Bhaaji’, a curry made with green leaves and toor dal with brinjal.”

Rahul Gandhi further wrote, “While discussing Patole ji and the Sanade family’s personal experiences of caste and discrimination, we discussed the lack of awareness about Dalit food and the importance of documentation of this culture. The Constitution grants shares and rights to the bahujans. And We will Protect that Constitution. But true inclusion and equality of all in the society will only be possible when every Indian makes efforts with the feeling of brotherhood in his heart.”

The Sanade family, who knew Rahul Gandhi, said they were “not at all prepared for his sudden arrival”. “First we gave them water and tea and then they said they were hungry and offered to prepare something for all of us in their kitchen,” he said.
