ICC took a big step for the Champions Trophy
According to an ANI report, ICC officials are trying to urge the Pakistan Cricket Board, through side talks, to work towards a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy next year. That means ICC officials are trying to convince the PCB to agree to hold this tournament under the hybrid model. At the same time, ICC also explains why the hybrid model is the best option for the tournament and why the ICC tournament cannot be held without the Indian cricket team. Apart from this, ICC officials are also trying to ensure that Pakistan stops making statements against India.
Let us tell you that earlier this month the ICC had informed the PCB in writing that India will not travel to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy, which will be held in early 2025. This dispute has continued since then. According to the report, if the Champions Trophy is played in the hybrid model, all of Team India’s matches will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On the other hand, Pakistan Board wants India to tour Pakistan because their team had gone to India during the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023. Earlier, Pakistan had hosted the Asian Trophy but it was organized on the hybrid model, in which India played their matches in Sri Lanka.

According to the report, talks regarding the schedule are underway with Champions Trophy host Pakistan and other participating teams, and it is likely to be revealed in a few days. It is believed that the ICC may publish the schedule this week in any case. Normally the schedule is announced 100 days before the start of the tournament. But this time it is delayed after the Indian team’s refusal.
