After the agreement between India and China, the situation in eastern Ladakh has improved. The armies of both countries have begun to withdraw. Meetings at the level of local commanders in Depsang and Demchok began on Tuesday, October 22. At this meeting a consensus was reached between the two countries and now the armies have begun to withdraw. On Wednesday in Demchok a tent was removed from both sides. Some temporary structures were also demolished Thursday.

At Demchok, the Indian soldiers are retreating towards the west of the Charding drainage and the Chinese soldiers are returning to the other side of the drainage i.e. towards the east. Between 10 and 12 temporary structures have been built on both sides and between 12 and 12 tents have been set up on both sides, which will be removed.

Patrolling is expected to begin in 4-5 days

The Chinese military does not have tents in Depsang, but has built temporary shelters by placing tarps between vehicles. On Thursday, Chinese soldiers also removed some of their vehicles from here. The Indian Army also reduced the number of soldiers coming from here on Thursday. Once this process is completed, patrols in Depsang and Demchok are expected to begin in the next 4 or 5 days.
