Russian nuclear doctrine: Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a new nuclear policy on Tuesday. The new policy has announced that if any country supported by any nuclear power attacks Russia, it will be considered a joint attack against their country. Putin endorsed the new nuclear deterrence policy on February 24, 2022, the 1,000th day since the invasion, by sending troops to Ukraine. The move comes after US President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to attack targets inside Russia with long-range missiles supplied by the United States. Any major airstrike against Russia could trigger a nuclear reaction. In such a situation, the signing of this policy shows Putin’s intention to use Russia’s nuclear arsenal to force Western countries to withdraw. (Language)
