Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that Uttar Pradesh will gift the first night safari to the country in December 2026. This night safari, which will be built in the capital Lucknow, will be a new destination for nature lovers of the country and the world. This will be the fifth night safari in the world.
The proposed Kukrail Night Safari Park and Zoo was presented to the Chief Minister in a high-level meeting at his official residence on Tuesday. The Chief Minister said that the construction work should be completed by June 2026 under any circumstances. Proper arrangements must be made to bring wild animals to the night safari and zoo. Sustainable models for the night safari and zoo economy must be developed. The Chief Minister said that 72 per cent of the area should be developed greenery and solar energy projects should also be implemented.
Night Safari is an ambitious project of the state government.
The Chief Minister said that the Night Safari Project is an ambitious project of the State Government and permission for its construction has been received from the New Delhi Central Zoo Authority. The country could be gifted with its first night safari in the country’s largest state, Uttar Pradesh, in December 2026. The day and night safari will be built gradually. It would be spread over more than 900 acres in Lucknow.
Safari will also attract foreign tourists
The Chief Minister said that after the construction of Kukrail Night Safari, this project will attract foreign tourists as a result of its appearance on the international tourism map. The Kukrail Night Safari project will also be connected to other tourist places in Lucknow. 72 percent of the Night Safari area should be converted into green zone.

The ecotourism zone will also be developed under the Kukrail Night Safari project. He said space should be given to solar energy projects. The Chief Minister directed that there should be proper arrangements for quarantine centre, veterinary hospital, post-operative and operation theater here. There should also be facilities of cafeteria, 7D theatre, auditorium, parking etc. He said that in Adventure Zone, Superman Zipline, archery, zip line, Burma bridge, rowing boat, Sky Roller, fountain, jungle animal theme for children’s activities, Sky Cycle, etc. should be developed. The one-day safari will be expanded in the second phase. State government Forest Minister (independent charge) Dr Arun Kumar Saxena and officials from the government and forest department were present in the meeting.
The night safari will have the following features:-
- In the Night Safari area, areas developed on the theme Indian Walking Tray, Indian Foothill, Indian Wetland, Arid India and African Wetland will be the main attractions.

- The main attractions of the night safari will be the Asiatic lion, gharial, Bengal tiger, flying squirrel, leopard, hyena, etc.
- Construction of a world-class wildlife rescue center and hospital is also proposed under the Kukrail Night Safari Project.
- A total of 63 enclosures will be built in the zoo that will be set up in the Kukrail forest area.
- Sarus crane, swamp deer, Himalayan bear, South African giraffe, African lion and chimpanzee will be the main attractions of the zoo.
- The zoo will be developed in themed areas such as African savanna, Incredible India and a designed wetland.
