With the onset of winter in Delhi, the problem of air pollution has also increased. At present, the AQI in the capital has exceeded 400 and has reached a critical level. To address this, the administration has ordered to implement Stage 4 of the Graduated Response Action Plan (GRAP-4) in the city. Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has attacked the central government over the pollution issue. Citing the problems people face due to pollution, Tharoor has questioned whether Delhi should remain the capital.
Congress leader Tharoor posted on his social media platform X that Delhi is officially the most polluted city in the world. The AQI here is 4 times higher than the dangerous level and almost five times higher than that of the second most polluted city, Dhaka. It is inhumane that our government has been watching this problem for years and is doing nothing about it.
Delhi should remain the capital
Referring to the problems faced by Delhi due to air pollution, the Congress leader questioned whether it is the national capital. Tharoor said the city is uninhabitable due to air pollution from November to January and is hardly habitable during the rest of the year. Should it remain the capital of the country?
A round table was organized
The Congress MP further wrote in his post that in view of the air pollution problem in Delhi, he had organized a roundtable in 2015, but it was closed last year because the people responsible for addressing this problem were not serious and nothing . Something special was being achieved from these conferences.
