Addressing 3,127 newly elected Panches at the oath-taking ceremony held today at the additional courtyard of JJ Farm in Kapurthala district, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Agwant Singh Mann, has decided to conduct the Panchayat elections without the party symbol. The decision has boosted the desire for sanitation in the villages. He said Panchayats are the most basic unit of democracy, through which development of villages can be ensured. Furthermore, small village disputes and problems can be resolved by mutual agreement, which will further strengthen the community.
