Jal Jeevan Mission Honor Ceremony
Swatantra Dev Singh, Jal Shakti Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh, has honored 74 officials and employees who have done excellent work in the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state. These agents played an important role in providing electrical connection to all the houses in the village. Minister Jal Shakti asked all of you to provide tap connection to all the houses in the village. He said this work should be completed by 2027. Till 2027, not a single village or house in the state should be left without tap connection.
The cabinet minister of UP government said that my dream is to provide drinking water to every house and you all must fulfill this dream. During this programme, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ramkesh Nishad, Additional Chief Secretary of Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department Anurag Srivastava, State Information Commissioner P N Dwivedi, Director General of Water Supply Department of Rural Water, Dr. Rajshekhar, CEO Brijraj Singh Yadav and a large number of officials from across the state and employees were present.
Work possible under Modi-Yogi
The Jal Shakti minister said that when he was given the responsibility of the department in 2022, Uttar Pradesh was at the last place. But thanks to the efficiency of officials and employees, today Uttar Pradesh has become the state offering the highest number of tap connections in the country. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh occupies the first position in providing tap connections.
Tap connection reached 86 percent of homes
Minister Jal Shakti said that the entire Jal Jeevan Mission team, working as a family, has provided tap connections to more than 2 crore and 26 lakh houses in the state. So far, 86 percent of houses are connected to taps. We will have to work to achieve the goal of increasing this figure to 100 percent soon.
During the programme, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ramkesh Nishad said that earlier water came to Bundelkhand by train. Water is now supplied to all houses through tap connections. Thanks to which the life of the local population has improved.
The connection reached all homes at low cost
Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastava enumerated UP’s achievements in the Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that apart from providing maximum number of connections, UP has also become the state that provides door-to-door tap connections at the lowest cost in the entire country. Dr Rajashekhar, director general of the Department of Rural Water Supply, said that apart from providing connections, making the projects solar-based will save crores of rupees in electricity bills every year.
During the programme, state information commissioner PN Dwivedi said this is the first government department to honor employees who do good work. Other departments should also take inspiration from this step.
The winners shared their experiences
Officers who received the award also shared their experiences. A representative of an organization said that we also work in other states, but the security environment in UP is not found anywhere else. Here the government machinery and the private machinery work together like a family to achieve the objective.
