Chhotu Ram’s real name was Ram Richhpal. He was the youngest of his brothers, hence the whole family called him Chhotu. Even in the school register, his name was written as Chhotu Ram and later, the great man became famous with the name Chhotu Ram. He tried to free farmers and the working class from debt. He fought for the organization of mandis for farmers and worked for relief of many taxes.
He worked to grant property rights to farmers’ land. He built many educational institutions to provide education so that the children of common poor agricultural workers could receive a good education. Therefore, such great men will always be remembered so that future generations can follow in their footsteps. On this occasion he has also performed Havana so that the people of the area could participate in the program.
