The figures detailing deaths in Gaza are terrifying. Palestinian health officials say the total number of deaths since last year has reached 43,922.

Some 103,898 people have been injured in the ongoing conflict. The Palestinian Authority’s Foreign Ministry called on the international community to take “urgent measures” to stop the “atrocities.”

In Brussels, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said he had no words to explain what was happening in the Middle East.

Given that he will step down as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs in December, Borrell expressed his disappointment before chairing his final meeting of ministers in Brussels.

“Some 44,000 people have been killed in Gaza and 70% of the dead are women and children,” said the Spanish official. “When you look at their age, they are often children under 9 years old,” he said.

On the other hand, the Israeli army has confirmed that it “eliminated” Hezbollah’s communications director, Mohammed Afif, presented as the “propaganda chief” of the Lebanese pro-Iran movement, in an attack carried out on the same day in the Beirut area.

Meanwhile, schools in and around Beirut will remain closed until Wednesday following two targeted Israeli strikes around the capital.

On social media, the Lebanese Minister of Health stated that 29 people were killed and 122 injured in the last 24 hours. The ministry said that since October 2023, 3,481 people have been killed and 14,786 injured.

On the other hand, three hundred cultural professionals have made an urgent appeal to UNESCO for the preservation of Lebanese heritage.

Professionals, including archaeologists and academics, in their petition asked the institution to guarantee the security of the irreplaceable treasure.
