The Indian team won the T20 series against South Africa 3-1 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav. Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma and Varun Chakraborty performed amazingly for India in the T20 series. It is thanks to these players that the Indian team managed to win the series. Tilak scored a total of 280 runs, including two centuries in the series, and received the Player of the Series award. India won the fourth T20 match by 135 runs. In this match, South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee had protested against a decision by the umpire. After which the ICC has taken action against him.

Gerald Coetzee admitted his mistake

Gerald Coetzee was reprimanded for protesting against the referee’s decision in a T20 international match. He made inappropriate comments after the umpire declared one of his balls “open.” The ICC press release stated that Gerald Coetzee was found guilty of breaching Rule 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to protesting a referee’s decision during an international match. T20. A demerit point was added to his disciplinary record. He admitted the crime and the punishment, so a formal trial was not necessary.

The ban is imposed if four demerit points are obtained within a period of 24 months

The minimum punishment for a level one offense is an official caution, while the maximum punishment is 50 per cent of the player’s match fee and one or two demerit points added to his account. When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted to suspension points and the player is suspended.

Gerald Coetzee did not perform well in the T20 series against India. He took just four wickets in four T20 matches. So far, he has taken 12 wickets in 10 T20 internationals for South Africa. He has 10 Test wickets and 31 ODI wickets to his name.
