Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru entered the freedom movement under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi at the time of the birth of Indira Gandhi, the only daughter of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Kamla Nehru. After completing her school education in 1934-35, Indira ji entered the Visva-Bharati University, established by Rabindranath Tagore at Shanti Niketan. It was Rabindranath Tagore who called her Priyadarshini.
