The votes of the people of these 12 villages are in two states.
There are 12 villages on the Telangana-Maharashtra border which are considered their boundaries by the Maharashtra government and considered their boundaries by the Telangana government. From the votes to the ration cards of the people living in these 12 villages, they are made in both states. But people who live here cannot say with certainty what condition they are in. This is also the pain of the people who live here. He says that as soon as the elections come, the leaders of both the states come to his village, but when it comes to development, both the states shirk the responsibility and put it on the other.
People of all these villages recently voted in Telangana elections and now they are going to vote in Maharashtra elections. People living here say their problem is not because of this, but because of the time of partition between Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. According to the local population, in 1956 there was a new division of states. At that time, these 12 villages were included in the united Andhra Pradesh. Since these towns are closer to Maharashtra geographically and culturally.
Border dispute case pending in Supreme Court
In such a situation, these villages were included in Jeevithi taluka of Chandrapur district of Maharashtra in the year 1987. The dispute over this matter reached the Supreme Court and a report was prepared by the KK Naidu Commission. It was decided that 12 villages would remain in Andhra Pradesh only. The Maharashtra government has filed an appeal in this regard and the matter is till now pending in the Supreme Court. The villagers are having to suffer the consequences of this. Due to this dispute, there are Maharashtra Board and Telangana Board in these villages.
All facilities are double.
Similarly in all these villages there are 2 Sarpanches each and everything from ration to pension is double. At the same time, as far as development plans are concerned, all these villages are the most backward in both the states. Locals say they are unlucky to be on the border of two states. The people here say they have land in the town. If there is a dispute, cases are filed in both states and the hearing is not held anywhere. Likewise, they also have no right to claim which state they actually live in.
