Anu Kapoor says, “I managed to get Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi married on the night of December 9, 1984. That is also a story in itself. He was sitting drunk (drunk) and she was sitting inside reading a book, so I arrived there on the night of December 9th. I said whatever my wife is now…I considered her my sister…so I said whatever she is now, decide now friend. They were melodies, of course. Then he started saying what decision should I make, he is not willing to do anything.”
Anu Kapoor had brought Maulana in the middle of the night.
Completing her statement, Anu Kapoor further said, “I asked you sir, is everything ready? Then he told me yes, it’s fine. I said, wife, are you ready? So she said yes, okay. So I said: I’m leaving.” After this, Anu Kapoor went with her driver and brought the Maulvi at midnight. That night a call was made to Boney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. They also called other people and in the morning the wedding took place.
