The air in the country’s capital Delhi has become extremely poisonous these days. There has been a decline in air quality over the past few days, but information about some improvement has now come to light. The AQI in Delhi fell below 500 on Wednesday morning. In such a situation, Delhi’s air quality has re-entered the ‘severe’ category after being in the ‘severe plus’ category.
Delhi’s overall 24-hour AQI at 6 am is 422, which is still in the ‘severe’ category. Despite the reduction in pollution, about a dozen of the 38 stations are still in the “severe plus” category. Stations like Rohini, Wazirpur, Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Narela, Mundka, Alipur, Jahangir Puri, Sonia Vihar and Ashok Vihar still record 24-hour average AQI above 450. This means that despite improvement in pollution levels about 24 hours ago, the stations are still dangerously contaminated.
The AQI is 463 in Alipur, 454 in Anand Vihar, 457 in Ashok Vihar, 457 in Bawana, 463 in Mundka, 453 in Narela, 407 in Okhla Phase-2 and 440 in Punjabi Bagh.
AQI had surpassed 500 in these areas.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Punjabi Bagh, Pusa, Rohini, Shadipur, Sonia Vihar, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, Alipur, Anand Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Narela, Nehru Nagar and Delhi’s Pratapganj AQI level had reached 500 in the areas. In view of the rising pollution levels, Delhi University and JNU have announced online classes.

What will the weather be like on Wednesday?
The IMD has forecast dense fog on Wednesday, and the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 24 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
