Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Assembly elections are being held today on 288 seats in Maharashtra. The reputation of many veterans is at stake here. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are trying hard to get people’s votes for their respective matches.

In Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar’s NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), Uddhav’s Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the Congress are part of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. At the same time, apart from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling alliance includes Shiv Sena, led by Shinde, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar.

Who is fighting for how many seats?

The BJP is contesting elections from 149 seats in Maharashtra, while the Shiv Sena has fielded its candidates for 81 seats and the NCP for 59 seats. While Congress is trying its luck with 101 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) with 95 and NCP (SP) with 86 seats. Both Shiv Sena factions are neck and neck in 50 seats. At the same time, rival factions of the NCP have fielded candidates against each other for 37 seats.
