UP by choice: Today, i.e. November 20, voting has begun for the by-elections to nine Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats. The main contest in these by-elections is between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP). This is the first electoral battle after the Lok Sabha elections, in which the Congress stayed away and supported the Samajwadi Party (SP). At the same time, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is alone in the election fray and is fielding its candidates for all nine seats.
