Said, Gram Panchayat and Sarpanch are the foundation of democracy
Punjab News (Aaj Samaj), Bathinda: Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has appealed to the Gram Panchayats to make the State drug-free. He said drug addiction is one of the biggest challenges facing Punjab today. While the state government is continuously striving to put an end to drug addiction, if this fight is started at the Panchayat level, then we can easily put an end to it.
Talking about the drug problem, the Finance Minister said that with the active role of Panches and Sarpanches, Punjab can soon become a drug-free state. He said that the Punjab government and police are committed and active in this direction and all possible efforts are being made. He appealed to the judges to cooperate fully in this noble cause.

Along with this, he called on the Panches and Sarpanches to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and dedication. He also announced that a special grant of Rs 5 lakh will be given to the Panchayats and the state government will provide full support to the Panchayats in every noble work. Stressing on environmental protection, the Finance Minister said that more and more trees must be planted to ensure clean air and water for generations to come.
During the function, the Finance Minister released a poster to commemorate World Toilet Day and presented certificates to the beneficiaries. Panchayat Officer Gurjeevan Singh gave detailed information about the works of the Panchayat. During this, Sukhraj Singh Dhaddian’s Kavishari group enthralled everyone with their heroic poems and attacks.
