up bypolls 2024 mirapur – Multi-party contest, question of credibility… Why is political temperature high in Mirapur seat in UP by-elections? – till bypolls 2024 meerapur assembly constituency rld mithlesh pal samajwadi party sumbul rana bsp asp aimim ntc bikt

By-elections are being held for nine UP seats. Today all these seats are voted on. This seat has become the center of attention due to the uproar during voting. During the voting, when the police were trying to organize the crowd that came out to vote in Kakrauli, Meerapur, people pelted stones. The police dispersed the crowd with mild force and the vote is now taking place peacefully. Fighting between multiple sides is also believed to be a factor behind the rising temperature in Meerapur in the by-elections.

In reality, Meerapur assembly seat is caught in a multi-cornered contest. Mithilesh Pal is contesting from this seat on behalf of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) ticket. NDA’s Mithilesh faces a challenge from opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Sumbul Rana, Chandrashekhar-led opposition Azad Samaj Party’s Zahid Hussain and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)’s Shahnazar. In this seat, both the NDA alliance and the India Block have opted for an external candidate.

Along with the BSP, Advocate Chandrashekhar’s party, which entered the election fray in alliance with the Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has also expressed confidence in the local face. The trend in this assembly seat so far has been that external candidates have been winning. Both the BSP and the ASP are making all-out efforts in the electoral arena in the hope of turning the tide. Both parties have fielded Muslim candidates. Only the Muslim leaders of the SP are in the fight. In such a situation, the battle of Meerapur became interesting.

The NDA is confident that the Muslim votes will be divided and the path to their victory will be easier. The opposition alliance had won this seat in 2022. Then, Chandan Verma of RLD was elected MLA from Mirapur. RLD was then in alliance with SP, this time Jayant Chaudhary’s party is with NDA. Meerapur MLA Chandan has been elected MP and this seat has become vacant due to his resignation, voting for which is being held today. More than the party, the credibility of Jayant Chaudhary and Chandan Chauhan in the Meerapur seat is at stake.

If we talk about the social equations of Meerapur headquarters, there is a majority Muslim population here. There are around 40 per cent Muslim voters in Meerapur. At the same time, the number of Jat and Gurjar voters is also quite significant. Tyagi, Pal and Dalit voters also play an important role in deciding the outcome of this seat. While the SP hopes to win with Muslims and Yadavs along with other backward castes and Dalit voters, the NDA is confident of its victory due to the spread of Muslim votes and the merger of the BJP’s core voters with the NDA. Whose hope, whose belief will prove correct? This will show the date November 23rd.
