Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa today took a firm stand on irregularities in the electoral process. He said the Commission takes immediate action upon receiving complaints. So far, about 5 officers have been suspended.
Navdeep Rinwa said that in districts like Kanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Moradabad, officers have been suspended for violating the guidelines. He clarified that the Commission takes violation of the guidelines seriously and there will be no commitment in this regard.
He also said that the identity of each voter is being verified and measures are being taken to make the electoral process completely transparent. Employees have also been laid off in some districts so that elections can be held fairly and freely.
