Lucknow: The entire country will be exposed to the story of progress in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Use of solar energy in Jal Jeevan Mission projects in UP will be highlighted at the Regional Conference on Good Governance organized by the Central Government in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. At the conference, IAS officers across the country will know that somehow Uttar Pradesh is reducing the project cost by using solar energy in Jal Jeevan Mission projects. At the same time, it is playing an important role in protecting the environment by reducing carbon emissions.
In the first session as State of Innovation in the two-day conference starting from November 21, Additional Chief Secretary of Namami Gange Department will deliver a lecture on the use of solar energy in Jal Jeevan Mission. In this, officials of other states will be told how Jal Jeevan Mission was successfully implemented in a big state like UP and how solar energy was used so that these projects could run at low cost for a long time. This scheme of Uttar Pradesh has been selected under Good Governance by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India. This conference is organized for senior IAS officers from across the country, which includes the excellent work done in the schemes running across the country.
Under Yogi’s leadership, more than 80 percent of the projects are solar-powered.
It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh, more than 80 per cent of the Jal Jeevan Mission projects are based on solar energy. Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to use solar energy on such a large scale in the Jal Jeevan Mission project. The objective of this conference organized by the Government of India is that other states in the country also adopt a similar model. So that electricity can be saved and projects can run for a long time. Notably, there are a total of 41539 projects in Uttar Pradesh under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Of which, solar energy is used in 33,157 Jal Jeevan Mission projects, generating 900 MW of electricity per day. Uttar Pradesh is the leading state in the country to do this.
The cost of electricity to extract water using solar technology will be less than 50 percent.
With the use of solar technology, the cost of water supply in villages has been reduced by more than 50 percent. Additionally, there is no need to rely on electricity for water supply. In addition to low maintenance, these solar power plants have a useful life of 30 years. By operating these projects through solar energy for 30 years, there will be a saving of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore. This will reduce the emission of approximately 13 lakh metric tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
12.50 lakh people trained to execute solar projects
Under the Jal Jeevan mission, 12.50 lakh people in rural areas have been trained to operate solar pumps. Only trained villagers will operate and protect these projects.
