The government has decided to relax the curfew in five districts of the state so that people can buy essential items.

In which districts are they exempt?

Manipur authorities on Wednesday announced that curfew will be relaxed from 5 am to 12 noon on Thursday in all areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal districts. On Wednesday, the curfew was relaxed from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., after which people went out to buy essential products.

What was said in the order?

“Now, therefore, the restriction on general public to come out of their homes from 5 am to 12 noon on November 21, 2024 (Thursday) is lifted in all areas of Imphal West district,” it says the order. “This relaxation will not include any meeting/dharna/rally etc. without obtaining approval from the competent authority.”

Along with this, health, energy, CAF&PD, PHED, telecom and banking/financial institutions like ATMs, petrol pumps, municipality, press and electronic media, functioning of courts and movement of flight passengers to and from the airport and valid movement of people. associated with essential services such as contractors/workers holding Airport Entry Permit (AEP) cards will also be exempt from the imposition of curfew after the expiration of the said relaxation period.

Additionally, district magistrates of Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal districts also issued similar orders in this regard on Wednesday.

From this day onwards a curfew was imposed.
