Guyana President Irfan Ali described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a champion among world leaders for his influential leadership and contribution to the developing world. He appreciated its relevance in Guyana and other countries and Prime Minister Modi’s style of governance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Guyana. This visit is special because for the first time in 56 years an Indian Prime Minister arrives in Guyana. In such a situation, the entire cabinet of the Guyana government arrived to receive Prime Minister Modi. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi held a bilateral meeting with Guyana’s President Irfan Ali.

Guyana’s President praised Prime Minister Modi

During the joint statement, Guyana’s President Irfan Ali said: ‘Thank you very much, Prime Minister Modi ji. It is our greatest honor to have you here. You are a champion among leaders. He has shown incredible leadership. You have shown the light to the developing world and created development metrics and frameworks that many are adopting in their own countries and many of which are relevant to us here in Guyana.

5 agreements signed between Guyana and India

During bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Guyana President Irfan Ali, emphasis was placed on further strengthening relations between the two countries. During this period both countries signed five agreements. Guyana’s President Irfan Ali said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Guyana is a milestone in increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Guyana included in India’s priority

After the bilateral talks, Prime Minister Modi said that in today’s meeting we have identified new initiatives to further strengthen our cooperation. We will continue our efforts to enhance our bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In line with the needs of the people of Guyana, India will make a significant contribution to the development of their skills and capabilities. This is a priority area for India and we will continue to drive this cooperation.
