This year, 51,379 students voted among 1.45 lakh eligible voters, the lowest turnout in at least 10 years. But the Delhi High Court came down hard on the filth spread by candidates’ posters, hoardings and banners put up during the elections. The court had ordered that the DUSU election results should not be published until the campus is completely clean. Following this, the candidates carried out a cleanliness drive in the colleges and campuses of Delhi University. Despite this, in some places the cleaning work has not been completed. Now the university took on the responsibility of cleaning up, so that the election results could be published according to the court’s instructions.
