Cleaning wave campaign launched by local body minister
15-day self-cleansing campaign started
Punjab News (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh: Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot said that there is a need to unite efforts of all citizens to keep the city and its areas clean. He said that just as we maintain cleanliness in our homes, we should also make concerted efforts to keep our surroundings clean and green. He appealed to people to clean their neighborhoods and support the Punjab government to make this campaign successful. Dr Ravjot Singh launched the ‘Cleanliness Wave’ campaign from Jalandhar. The objective of this 15-day cleaning campaign, which will run from October 24 to November 7, is to raise awareness among people about the importance of cleaning as a collective responsibility.

Set aside an hour every day for cleaning.
Dr. Ravjot said that under this drive, staff of Municipal Corporations/Councils across the state will spend one hour daily on unnecessary cleaning despite their routine work. He also reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to provide essential facilities like drinking water, better road infrastructure and good sewage system.
The Minister also appealed to the people to turn this campaign into a popular wave by joining in large numbers. He assured that he will personally follow up on this campaign to make it successful. Speaking to reporters, Dr Ravjot expressed confidence that the AAP, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, will win the four by-elections to be held in Punjab.
