Hair dryer explodes; woman’s fingers torn off
We inform that after this incident, the woman has been admitted to the local hospital for treatment. The incident took place on November 15, information about which came to light on Wednesday. Police sources said the injured woman has been identified as Basavarajeshwari Yarnal, 37, wife of ex-serviceman Papanna Yarnal, who died in Jammu and Kashmir in 2017. According to investigators, the explosion was due to an electrical short circuit. To use appliances such as a hair dryer, a 2 watt electrical connection is required. The switch in which the hair dryer was inserted did not have that much capacity, which is why the accident occurred.

According to information received from the police, a courier package was booked in the name of Sasikala, a resident of Basavarajeshwari. When the delivery boy called Sasikala to pick up the parcel, she told him that she was out of town and instead asked him to deliver the parcel to her neighbor Basavarajeshwari. After this, Sasikala called Basavarajeshwari and asked her to pick up the parcel. Later, Basavarajeshwar went to the courier office and picked up the parcel. When Sasikala asked him to open the package, Basavarajeshwari opened it and found a hair dryer. As soon as Basavarajeshwari plugged the hair dryer into the power and turned it on, it exploded in his hands.
Neighbor denied the messenger
Hearing the sound of the explosion, some residents ran and found Basavarajeshwari’s palms and fingers cut off. He was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital. Although Sasikala claimed that she had not ordered any products online, Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Amarnath Reddy said she may have said this out of fear after the incident. The SP said a case has been registered at Ilkal police station and an investigation is underway to ascertain who ordered the device and from where it was sent. A Visakhapatnam-based company manufacturing hair dryers has been identified. More research is being done
