‘Nandini’ is entering Delhi, how will it defeat Amul and Mother Dairy?

The South’s largest dairy company, Nandini, will enter Delhi. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Thursday launched Nandini brand dairy products of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) in the Delhi-NCR market. To establish its presence in Delhi NCR, the prices of Nandini’s products have been kept lower than its competitors. This means now the milk price war between Delhi and NCR is about to start. Let us also tell you how the Nandini brand will compete with the Mother Dairy and Amul brands in Delhi NCR.

Amul and Mother Dairy will face such competition

Starting Friday, the cooperative institution will market four types of products made with cow’s milk, curd and whey. Their prices will be competitive and will compete with established companies like Mother Dairy and Amul. Cow’s milk will be sold at Rs 56 per liter, whole milk at Rs 67 per liter, standardized milk at Rs 61 per liter, toned milk at Rs 55 per liter and curd at Rs 74 per kg. On the other hand, prices of milk and other products from Mother Dairy and Amul are higher.

How much milk will come in Delhi NCR?

After presenting the products, Siddaramaiah told reporters that we have excess milk in the state. KMF, in collaboration with Mandya Milk Union, will market an additional three to four lakh liters of milk per day in Delhi-NCR. Currently, KMF collects 100 lakh liters of milk per day, of which local consumption is 60 lakh liters. This saves an additional 40 lakh liters of milk for expansion into new markets. However, the Chief Minister acknowledged the challenges of delivering milk over a distance of over 2,500 kilometres, which takes between 50 and 54 hours.
