In Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, problems related to fertilizer and irrigation of farmers are increasing. Farmers, worried about not receiving fertilizers at the time of wheat planting, have begun to lose patience. When farmers who were queuing since 4am at a district farmers’ committee were told that there was no fertilizer available at the committee, their patience broke. After which the angry farmers broke the lock of the committee warehouse and looted the bags of fertilizer inside. The entire matter belongs to the Badihat Primary Rural Multipurpose Cooperative Society of the district.

Farmers say they were paying money to buy fertilizers, but they were not given them. Farmers also allege that their share of fertilizers is black marketed. While the manure is kept in the committees. Due to the lack of availability of fertilizers, the planting crisis deepens. At the same time, after this incident, questions are being raised about the local administration and the leadership of the committee.
As soon as the committee received information about the theft of fertilizers, the local police also arrived at the scene. After which the police also gave explanations to some farmers. In this matter, the farmer leaders have demanded the administration to ensure transparency in the distribution of fertilizers and take action against the guilty employees. It has also been said that if the problem is not resolved soon they will protest.

However, Lakshmi Prasad, head of Mahoba’s Badihat Cooperative Society, has denied the allegations of black marketing of fertilisers. He said some farmers and anarchists broke the lock of the committee’s warehouse, took away the fertilizer and also threw it outside. I don’t know how many bags of fertilizer they took. The matter has been reported to the authorities. A video has also been made of those who transport manure.
