The stampede created chaos at the recruiting site. According to the information, there was first a fight when entering the recruitment site and then a stampede broke out.
Candidates from different states had arrived at Devkatiya area of Jajarvel in Pithoragarh for military recruitment. However, candidates from each state had to participate in the hiring process on different days. On the ninth day, i.e. Wednesday, candidates from UP arrived to participate in the recruitment process. Between 15,000 and 20,000 candidates from the state arrived. Due to the large number of candidates, there was an atmosphere of chaos at the recruitment site. The police had to struggle to handle the youths. After the stampede, the police resorted to lathi charge. In this a young man was seriously injured.
