Chandīgarh: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday avoided giving a direct answer on returning to active politics in Punjab, saying his party high command can answer this question. Sidhu has not participated in party programs or activities for the last few months. He did not even campaign in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or the by-elections to four assembly constituencies – Gidderbaha, Barnala, Dera Baba Nanak and Chabbewal.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, during a press conference at his Amritsar residence, could not say anything about whether he would return to active politics in Punjab or not. Only the Congress high command can answer this. He said Navjot Singh Sidhu never made concessions on anything. That’s why the public trusts him. Confidence lies in character.

Earlier, Sidhu had been attacking the Aam Aadmi Party government on many issues, including rising debt. In March he met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and called for an independent audit assessment by a group of financial experts into the alleged deterioration of the state’s financial situation.
He said this about his wife’s illness.
Addressing the media, he said that his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu has already recovered from cancer. Speaking about his wife’s recovery from cancer, he said: “I feel very proud that Noni (his wife) was declared medically cancer-free today. The former minister said Navjot Kaur Sidhu was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago. He said that his wife has now fully recovered from this illness.
