Assam Rifles, along with Mizoram police, seized smuggled methamphetamine pills and heroin worth over Rs 86 crore in two separate operations in Champhai district. In one of these cases, two Myanmar citizens have been detained.
This information was given through the issuance of an official statement on Thursday. According to PTI, security forces had received information about the movement of a suspicious consignment through the Tiau river on the India-Myanmar border.
Following this, a joint team of Assam Rifles and State Police carried out an operation in a village on Wednesday.
During the search operation, the traffickers fled the scene, but the drug shipment was seized. Assam Rifles said in its statement that during the search, 28.52 kg of methamphetamine pills worth Rs 85.56 million were recovered from the crime scene.
Let us tell you that methamphetamine pills are also called ‘crazy drug’, they are banned in India.
The statement added that in another operation in the district, a woman and a man residing in Myanmar were arrested. 52 grams of heroin worth Rs 39 lakh was seized from them. A motorcycle used to transport drugs has also been seized.
