The NPP, which recently withdrew its support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Manipur, on Thursday said that if the BJP supports Chief Minister N. if he dismisses Biren Singh, it may reconsider its decision.
NPP national vice-president Yumnam Joykumar Singh said three of the party’s seven MLAs attended the meeting called by the Chief Minister, but they should not have done so as support for the government was withdrawn.
The PNP had withdrawn government support
However, there was no impact on the BJP-led government after the NPP withdrew its support on Sunday as the party has an absolute majority with 32 MLAs in the 60-member assembly. The Naga People’s Front and Janata Dal (United) are also included in the ruling alliance.
Demand for dismissal of Chief Minister Biren Singh
Joykumar Singh said that Chief Minister Biren Singh has failed to restore normalcy in Manipur. This is the main reason why our national president (Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma) withdrew his support. He said if Biren Singh is removed, the new government is likely to take necessary steps to restore normalcy. At that time the PNP may reconsider its decision.
