The Consulate General of India in Toronto, Canada, said in an official statement: “Due to the continued inability of security agencies to provide minimum security against increasing threats, the Consulate has decided to cancel some more consular camps.” “They were not in any place of worship, including one in a police facility.”
The embassy’s decision comes days after the Indian High Commission in Canada decided to cancel some planned consular camps. Previously, on November 2 and 3, two such camps were attacked by the Khalistani mafia in Brampton and Surrey.
The statement said the Consulate is deeply sensitive to the difficulties faced by approximately 4,000 elderly expatriate members (both Indian and Canadian nationals) living in the Greater Toronto Area who have been denied essential consular services.
Devotees were attacked
On November 2, a Khalistani mob entered the Hindu Sabha temple premises in Brampton and attacked devotees there. The temple itself was organizing the counselor camp and the Peel police of the province of Ontario did not provide security or take action against the Khalistani attackers.
The banned pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice said its supporters were protesting the presence of Indian consulate officials, who had come to help with administrative services.

The Indian High Commission was providing essential services to Canadian Indians who were targeted by anti-India forces. Following the attacks on the Indian-Canadian community in Brampton, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said consular services had been affected due to security concerns and expressed hope that the camps would continue in other cities.
Diplomatic relations between India and Canada have deteriorated rapidly after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of being involved in the conspiracy to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in September last year. India strongly denied these allegations and attacked the Trudeau administration, accusing it of pursuing appeasement policies and ruining bilateral relations between India and Canada.
