According to an AFP report, 50 people have died in this attack. As soon as the passenger van passed near Ochut Kali and Manduri in Lower Kurram, the terrorists who were already ambushed there started firing indiscriminately at the van. The passenger van was heading from Parachinar to Peshawar.
According to Pakistani news agency Dawn, Dr. Ghayor Hussain, an official at Alizai Hospital at the Tehsil headquarters, confirmed the attack.
The authorities said that 14 of the deceased did not have identification cards, so they have not yet been identified, we are continually trying to contact their relatives.

According to Reuters, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial chief secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary said a woman and a child were also among those killed in the Kurram attack. He said this is a great tragedy and the death toll is likely to rise. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for this incident. Ziyarat Hussain, a local resident of Parachinar, said there were two convoys of passenger vehicles, one carrying passengers from Peshawar to Parachinar and the other from Parachinar to Peshawar, when gunmen opened fire on them. He said his relatives were traveling in the convoy from Peshawar.
