Chandīgarh: Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has said that Haryana has taken the initiative to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making the country a medical hub and Fit India and the government has taken the initiative to establish a college of medicine in each district. So far, 9 new medical colleges have been opened in the state. Before 2014, there were only 6 medical colleges in the state. Now the number of medical colleges in the state has increased to 15. In this series, Bhoomi Pujan of construction work of Sant Sarsai Nath Ji Government Medical College, Sirsa was performed today. The Chief Minister announced that a separate wing for cancer treatment will also be created in this medical college. Five and a half hectares of adjacent land will be allocated for this.

The Chief Minister addressed those gathered at the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of Sant Sarsai Nath Ji Government Medical College in Sirsa on Thursday. Earlier, the Chief Minister also conveyed an environmental message by planting a tree on the university campus in the name of his mother.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the great saint Sarsai Nath ji and extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the citizens of Sirsa. The Chief Minister said that Saint Sarsai Nath ji was a disciple of Guru Gorakhnath ji, who laid the foundation of the city of Sirsa in the 13th century. Saint Sarsai Nath ji was a great person, who gave life to Dara Shikoh, son of the then Mughal emperor Shahjahan. I am sure that all patients who come to this medical school, built in the name of such a great man, will return healthy.

He said that the entire project of this medical college to be built on 21 acres will cost approximately Rs 1,010 crore (37 lakh). This university will be ready in two years. Apart from this, the construction work of Bhiwani Medical College is almost completed. Medical colleges are being built in Kaithal, Gurugram and Yamunanagar. Construction work on medical college buildings at Haibatpur of Jind district and Koriyawas of Mahendragarh district is nearing completion. Apart from these, the process of opening five more new medical colleges is underway. Not only this, nursing, physiotherapy and paramedical colleges will also be established in all medical colleges.

Similarly, the government took over the closed Gold Field Medical College in Chhayansa, Faridabad and launched it in the name of former Prime Minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Apart from this, Shri Krishna Ayush University has been opened in Kurukshetra. The National Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy is being established in Panchkula.
The Chief Minister said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay University of Health Sciences is being constructed in Kutail, Karnal. The third phase expansion work of Bhagat Phool Singh Government Women’s Medical College, Khanpur Kalan (Sonipat), is being carried out at a cost of Rs 419 million. The National Cancer Institute was inaugurated at Badhsa in Jhajjar district. AIIMS is being established at Majra in Rewari district, the foundation stone of which was recently laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Ayushman Bharat Yojana for free treatment of the poor. Expanding it in Haryana, the government has started the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu Haryana scheme. So far, a total of 1 crore 19 lakh Viva cards have been manufactured in the state. Under this scheme, Rs 1,477 crore has been paid for the treatment of 11 lakh 65,000 patients in the state. The Chief Minister announced that families with annual income less than Rs 1.80 lakh in the state will now be provided treatment facilities of up to Rs 10 lakh under the Ayushman-Chirayu scheme.

The Chief Minister said that along with modern medicine, Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy are promoted in the state. He has appealed to farmers to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture. We have to promote natural agriculture, for this the government has also created a separate budget.
Haryana Health Minister Kumari Aarti Singh Rao said there was need for a medical college in Sirsa and also an age-old demand of the people of Sirsa, which Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini fulfilled today by performing Bhoomi Pujan. There will be a provision of 540 beds in this medical college and 100 MBBS seats will be available for the youth. He said that the construction of this medical college will not only benefit Sirsa but also the people of the neighboring states of Rajasthan and Punjab. He said the state government is working continuously and quickly in the medical field. Before the arrival of the state government, there were 700 MBBS seats in 2014, which the present government increased to 2,185 and there will be a further increase of 1,300 seats in the future.
