Canada and India – Another U-turn by Canada’s Trudeau government, now there will be no strict screening for Indians at the airport – Canadian government withdraws additional screening measure for Indian travelers NTC

Canada’s Justin Trudeau government has taken another 180-degree turn amid strained relations between India and Canada. According to a CBC News report, the Canadian government made the decision a few days ago to conduct additional security checks for travelers arriving in India. the decision has been withdrawn. This measure was taken amid diplomatic tensions between the two countries over the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Transport Minister Anita Anand, while announcing increased testing earlier this week, said all passengers arriving in India will be subject to stricter screening and security measures at the airport. “As a precautionary measure, the Government of Canada will temporarily conduct additional security screening for travelers traveling to India,” Anand said in a statement.

Long lines began to form at the airport.

Now the government has not mentioned the reasons for the elimination of the new protocol. Measures taken by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) included screening passengers and luggage at airports before entering restricted areas. Additional screening on flights to India reportedly caused delays and long queues at airports.

An increased investigation was announced in October after a bomb threat was received on an Air India flight from New Delhi to Chicago. The plane was diverted to Iqaluit, Canada, where upon investigation no explosives were found on the plane.

Adding to security concerns, Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu recently issued a public threat against Air India flights from November 1 to 19. The warning came on what Pannu described as the “40th anniversary of the Sikh genocide” in India. Pannu, who has dual Canadian and American citizenship, has also made similar threats in the past.

Relations between the two countries became strained after Nijjar’s murder.

There is tension between India and Canada since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of being involved in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau had made this accusation in September of last year. Tension between the two countries increased further when Canadian police accused Indian diplomats of being involved in Nijjar’s murder. After this the diplomatic crisis increased.
