Nadda’s letter to Kharge on Manipur, Congress is sensationalizing the issue

New Delhi. Recently, violence broke out again in Manipur. After which incidents of arson occurred in many areas of the state. Many questions were raised against Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and the BJP regarding the situation in Manipur. In this series, Congress president Mallikarjun had written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu regarding the deteriorating situation in Manipur. In which Kharge had requested President Murmu for immediate intervention in Manipur. About which now BJP president JP Nadda wrote a letter to Kharge. He alleged that the Congress is playing politics on an issue like Manipur.
BJP president JP Nadda wrote a letter to Congress president Malikarjun Kharge accusing the Congress of playing politics on the Manipur issue. Nadda has written in the letter that the Congress leaders’ stance on Manipur strengthens the nexus between foreign and divisive powers. We will not allow the forces’ efforts to weaken the country to succeed.
Nadda has written that the people of our country have a right to know whether it is Congress’ lust for power or part of a carefully designed strategy to divide the people and sideline our democracy. This pattern of Congressional leaders supports and encourages foreign alliances. The forces that want to derail India’s progress are truly worrying.
Nadda has alleged in his letter: “Congress leaders are continuously trying to sensationalize the Manipur issue. During the Congress government, foreign terrorists were free to come to India. During Fr Chidambaram’s tenure as Home Minister, an agreement was signed with the terrorists, thanks to which he and the declared terrorists could leave their country to avoid arrest. Today that system has been abolished. Peace and development have been happening in Manipur for the last 10 years, but those forces want to create the same atmosphere again and want to take Manipur back to that period of decades of chaos.
He further wrote, the failure of India’s administrative and security protocols under his rule is one of the main reasons why extremist and usually violent organizations want to destroy the hard-won peace in Manipur. What is surprising is that the Congress Party is repeatedly trying to sensationalize the situation in Manipur. He seems to have forgotten that his government not only legalized illegal migration of foreign terrorists to India, but that the then Home Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram, had signed treaties with them.
Regarding the current tension in Manipur, a senior Congress leader had said that Meiteis, Kuki-Jo and Nagas can live together in one state only if they have regional autonomy. In his position he advocated for regional autonomy. After this publication, Manipur Congress leader and former CM Okram Ibobi Singh opposed and condemned it. Due to the protests, Chidambaram had to delete his post. But the leaders’ resentment did not end. He has demanded action against Chidambaram.
The first incident of caste conflict in Manipur came to light on May 3, 2023. Since then, a total of 240 people from both the Kuki-Meitei communities have died and thousands have been displaced. Violence continues in the state, but the uproar has increased following the murder of three women and their three children in Jiribam earlier this month. People’s anger has erupted in protest against the Jiribam incident and protesters have vandalized and set fire to the houses of several MLAs in the last few days. There is also a reported death of a protester due to police shooting in Jiribam. This has also increased tension.
Due to the current situation in the state, the NPP has withdrawn its support to the BJP government. The NPP has demanded that it will not support unless N. Biren Singh is removed from the post of Chief Minister.
