The 3-day literature Mahakumbh program ‘Sahitya Aajtak’ has begun. Bhajan Samrat Anoop Jalota started the program with Saraswati and Ganesh Vandana. Anoop Jalota also spoke about the journey of learning music. He told about his struggle. It says: Wrestling should be removed from the dictionary. Because that is the training period. What we learn at that moment will be useful in the future. I’m sorry my name was announced early. In those days I was learning music from my father. I was learning classical music seriously. Suddenly one of my albums became a hit, it was called ‘Bhajan Sandhya’. People started calling me Bhajan Samrat.
He was then between 27 and 28 years old. But suddenly God made me famous all over the world. That bhajan was played everywhere, on every street. That’s the sadness inside me. God gave me early fame. If things had stopped for 5 years, I would have sung better than I sing now. Then my practice would have been better. But this is the will of God.
I learned music from my father.
He told how he received musical training from his father. He says: Our father was a good classical singer and used to sing bhajans. We are 5 brothers and sisters. When it was Riyaz’s turn, I used to sit with him. Then they understood that this is what is wrong and that it must be taught. I have been singing since I was 7 years old. Since then I have been doing 20 shows a month. I have seen that good words and good music resonate with the people who listen to them. ‘Aisi Laagi Lagan’ sung 45 years ago. Even today there are people like him. I believed that if there is good poetry, good feelings and melody, then that song will never get old, I still sing it today on every stage.
Singer said that his father had explained to him that it is very important to do Riyaaz daily. Just as your body starts to smell bad if you don’t bathe every day, singing will also start to smell bad.
