Punjab News: Counting of votes for 4 Punjab Assembly seats by-election today



Counting of votes for by-elections to 4 Punjab Assembly seats began today.

Chandigarh (Aaj Samaj)Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C has said that the counting of by-elections for 4 Punjab Assembly seats will begin at 8 am on November 23. All preparations in this regard have been completed. All counting centers will be monitored through CCTV cameras. He said that a three-tier security system has been established around the counting centres, for which personnel and officers of Punjab Police and Central Armed Forces have been deployed.

The electoral chief said that this time a total of 45 candidates are contesting the by-elections for 4 Assembly seats. A center for counting votes has been set up in each assembly constituency. Sibin C said 11 candidates participated in Vidhansabha Halka Dera Baba Nanak and 64.01 per cent voting was recorded here. The counting of votes from this constituency will be carried out in 18 rounds at Sukhjindra Group of Institutions, Engineering Wing, Hardochanni Road, Gurdaspur. He further informed that Chabbewal (SC) assembly constituency was contested by a total of 6 candidates and counting of votes will be done in 15 rounds at Gym Hall, Education Block, Riyat and Bahara Group of Institutions, Chandigarh Road, Hoshiarpur.

A total of 53.43 per cent voting was conducted in Chabbewal seat. Similarly, 14 candidates are in the fray in Giddarbaha constituency. Here a total of 81.90 percent voted. The counting of votes from Giddadabaha constituency will be held in 13 rounds at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) • Aaru Road. Sibin C said there is competition among 14 candidates in the Barnala constituency. In this constituency, 56.34 percent of the votes were recorded.

Counting of votes for Barnala constituency will be done in 16 rounds at SD College of Education, Barnala. Sibin C further informed that SDM Dera Baba Nanak is the returning officer of Dera Baba Nanak constituency while ADC (G) of Hoshiarpur is the returning officer of Chabbewal (SC) constituency. SDM Giddadabaha is the returning officer of Giddadabaha constituency and SDM Barnala is the returning officer of Barnala constituency.
